Weekly Market Report

Welcome to the Weekly Market Report, your go-to rundown for all the highs and lows of the week.

May long is coming and the forecast this weekend is (finally!) looking up! Sunshine and 20+ degree weather means the patios are going to be bumping and your kitchens are going to be busy. A long weekend also means that Bondi will be closed for deliveries on Monday (Victoria Day), so make sure to adjust your orders accordingly.

We've got a few updates this week you won't want to miss, so keep scrolling. Here's what's worth knowing...

THE TL;DR VERSION

Market At A Glance:

  • 🔺Tight & elevated: Lettuce, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, napa, and hot peppers remain extremely tight with prorates and quality concerns persisting. Tomatoes are still escalated, though supply is beginning to improve. Limes remain tight, especially on larger sizes, while grapes continue to tighten as offshore season winds down.
  • 🔻Easing: Roma tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, tomatillos, honeydew, and watermelon are improving with better supply and new regions coming online. Blueberries remain strong with overlapping production regions, and peppers are seeing more stable availability.
  • ➡️ Transitioning: Spring transitions are driving variability, especially in romaine lettuce. Onions are shifting to new crop. Tomatoes remain volatile between regions. Berries are mixed, and grapes are tightening as offshore supply winds down.

🚨Upcoming Holiday Closure: Please note that we will be closed this Monday, May 18th for Victoria Day. Regular service will resume Tuesday, May 19th. Make sure to plan ahead and adjust orders accordingly.

🥬 Haven Greens Update: Haven Greens are discontinued effective immediately as ongoing supply inconsistency continues to impact reliability into foodservice. More details below.

📈 What’s Up?: Price increases this week on romaine, Brussels sprouts, green beans, broccoli, broccolini, fennel, limes, Bartlett pears, taroroot, habaneros, yellow peppers, and acorn squash as quality issues, growing region transitions, and limited supply continue to pressure markets.

📉 What's Down?: Price decreases this week on USA cherries & peaches, tomatoes, grapes, cauliflower, asparagus, specialty peppers, tomatillos, zucchini, carrots, clementines, and onions as supply improves and markets continue to ease.

🌟 New Arrivals: Locally foraged fiddleheads are expected to arrive this week! Plus new baby spinach and restock of arugula and mizunas from Clearwater.

🚫 Finishing Soon: Blood oranges and Cara Cara orange season is coming to an end.

Important Update

RE: Haven Greens

Due to ongoing supply inconsistency and limited service reliability into foodservice, we will be discontinuing Haven Greens effective immediately. Availability has remained unpredictable in recent months, making it difficult to consistently support demand.

We remain committed to sourcing strong local programs wherever possible and will continue evaluating opportunities as additional greenhouse capacity comes online in the future.

Moving forward, we will be shifting toward alternative local and US-grown programs to help ensure more stable and reliable supply. Please contact your sales rep for substitution support or additional details.
