Weekly Market Report

Welcome to the Weekly Market Report, your go-to rundown for all the highs and lows of the week.

It's the last week of Feb, folks...we freaking made it. The days are getting longer, spirits are getting higher, and you can feel that spring is on its way! And speaking of spring… our 2026 Spring Planner is live and ready to help you plan those spring menus with confidence. Keep scrolling to download your copy!

Now, let's dive into this week's market updates and what you should have on your radar...

 THE TL;DR VERSION

Market At A Glance :

  • 🔺Tight & elevated: Lettuce, tender leaf, celery, carrots, green onions, broccoli, cauliflower, broccolini, fennel, leeks, Napa, herbs, green beans, and warm veg (corn, squash, cukes, peppers) are all really tight right now. Weather issues across Yuma, Mexico, and Florida = lighter cases, smaller product, possible prorates, and shorter shelf life. Plan accordingly.
  • 🔻Easing: Grapes are steady with excellent quality. Pineapple is slightly better with sizing flexibility. Brussels sprouts improving.
  • ➡️ Transitioning: Melons are moving between growing regions, so expect some size variation. Strawberries are still tight after recent rain and freeze, but easing a bit. Bananas and small citrus (like mandarins) are tightening up, demand is high and crops are peaking larger.
  • 🚨Supply Gap — Yuma Transition & Florida Corn Freeze Impact: Yuma’s early wrap and the shift to Salinas are expected to bring 6-8 weeks of volatility on lettuce and brassicas, with tight supply and elevated pricing. We’re also seeing a corn gap following the Florida freeze and are working to secure Mexican supply.

📈 What’s Up?: Weather stress, regional transitions, and limited harvests are pushing markets higher on limes, Thai green peppers, green peppers, Roma tomatoes, tomatoes, beans, Honeycrisp apples, romaine, iceberg, blueberries, flat runner beans, and tomatillos.

📉 What's Down?: Improving weather, stronger harvests, and seasonal production increases are easing markets on strawberries, golden papaya, greenhouse tomatoes, and broccoli crowns.

☀️On the Horizon: Forced rhubarb should be arriving in the next few weeks!

Market Recap

What's Up, What's Down

📈Price Increases📈

These items have surged in price this week:

  • LIMES (2718 & 2720) - Fruit availability is tight due to recent low temperatures in key growing regions, which disrupted flowering and reduced yields. Expect elevated pricing to continue for at least the next two weeks.
  • THAI GREEN PEPPERS  (3024) - Thai chili availability from the Dominican Republic is currently limited.
  • GREEN PEPPERS, ROMA TOMATOES, TOMATOES & BEANS (2988, 3431, 4676 & 2153) - The recent freeze in Florida has severely impacted these crops, driving steep price increases across both United States and Mexico production. Peak pricing is expected to hold for the next 4–6 weeks.
  • HONEYCRISP APPLES (1939) - New crop volumes are short in the market, driving prices up. We expect pricing to remain at these elevated levels until spring.
  • ROMAINE  & ICEBERG (2696, 3244, 3245, 3246) - Colder seasonal temperatures in Yuma are reducing yields and driving prices up.
  • BLUEBERRIES (2193) - Demand for product of Mexico has increased, and ongoing harvest delays are pushing up costs on available supply.
  • FLAT RUNNER BEANS (2153) - There is limited supply of good-quality product coming out of Spain.
  • TOMATILLOS (3436) - Growers are currently transitioning to new crops in northern Mexico.

📉Price Drops📉

These items have dropped in price this week:

  • STRAWBERRIES (3346) - Volume out of both Florida and Mexico is ramping up, with increased berry supply entering the market. As availability improves, pricing is expected to continue trending downward gradually.
  • PAPAYA GOLDEN (2928) - Golden papaya supply has stabilized.
  • CLUSTER TOMATOES, HOT HOUSE TOMATOES  & GRAPE MEDLEY TOMATOES (7382, 7381 & 4254) - Greenhouse production is beginning to increase for this time of year, and pricing is expected to remain steady for the foreseeable future.
  • BROCCOLI CROWNS (2219) - Both Mexico and Yuma crops are returning to normal seasonal yields. Supply looks good, and pricing is expected to remain steady in the short term.

Coming Soon!

☀️On the Horizon☀️

Forced rhubarb should be arriving in the next few weeks, kicking off one of the earliest true signs of spring. Slim, bright stalks that are more vibrant pink and sweeter in flavour than field rhubarb. Forced rhubarb holds up beautifully in baking, preserves, syrups, and plated desserts.

Make sure to keep an eye on our socials for when it lands!

Supply Watch!

🚩Last Week's Shortages🚩

Supply Gaps:

  • Lettuces & Brassicas — Yuma’s early wrap-up and the transition to Salinas are expected to create 6–8 weeks of volatility and supply gaps across key lettuce and brassica items, with pricing elevated and availability inconsistent through the shift.

  • Corn — We are currently seeing a significant supply gap on corn due to freeze losses in Florida. Our purchasing team is actively working to secure product from Mexico.

Last Week's Shorts:

  • Watercress | 3460 — Back in stock now. The shorts were due to vendor cuts, but availability has returned to normal.

  • Burrata | 6840 — Back in stock after a brief packing delay.
