Weekly Market Report

Welcome to the weekly Market Report, your go-to for all the highs and lows of the week.

Before we dive in, a quick (but important) holiday reminder: there will be no deliveries this Thursday (25th) or Friday (26th) as our team takes some well-earned time with their families. That means 10PM tonight is your final cutoff for delivery before the holiday closure.

So take a quick scan of the walk-in: herbs? mushrooms? spring mix? citrus? Anything you need before Saturday? Get that order in!

We’ll also be closed on January 1st, so plan ahead to keep things running smoothly.

Wishing you a holiday stretch full of great food, good laughs, and a little time to breathe. Cheers from all of us at Bondi! 🎄✨

We’re keeping this Market Report short and sweet this week. Here’s what’s worth knowing…

THE TL;DR VERSION

Market At A Glance:

    • 🔺Tight & elevated: Brussels sprouts, broccoli/broccolini, celery, green onions, snow & snap peas, mushrooms, grapes (greens especially), herbs, and most lettuces remain tight thanks to weather and holiday demand. Prorates are still in play on a few key items.
    • 🔻Easing: Strawberry volumes are building across California, Mexico, Baja, and Florida with quality improving each week. Baby & tender leaf items have also improved slightly, though still tight in the market.
    • ➡️ Transitioning: Bell peppers are wrapping in Coachella and moving fully to Nogales, and Brussels sprouts will begin transitioning to Mexico (expect some bumps as we head into January).
    • ✅ Peaking: Citrus (mandarins, Cara Caras, lemons, grapefruit). Avocados remain steady, cantaloupes are tasting great, and cucumbers, eggplant, rainbow carrots, onions, and potatoes continue to be reliable.

📈 What’s Up?: Prices are up this week across romaine hearts, limes, Brussels sprouts, corn, green beans, cauliflower, red grapes, Romas, hazelnuts and red peppers driven by weather-impacted yields, seasonal transitions, tight supply, increased freight, and strong holiday demand.

📉 What's Down?: Prices are easing this week on strawberries, Bok Choy, cosmic crisp apples, and dragon fruit driven by stabilizing markets, improved volumes, and seasonal transitions.

🎇New Years Eve Mise: NYE is one of the busiest nights of the year...get ahead of next week's order planning!

☀️On the Horizon: Golden kiwi arriving on Monday. A little gold for NYE!

🟥 Red Flags: Haven Greens is expecting reduced availability for their foodservice spring mix throughout December. Full details and a few shorts from last week of note below.

    🚩Last Week's Shortages🚩

    Haven Greens Spring Mix:

    • Haven Greens Spring Mix will see reduced availability through December due to tighter-than-usual supply from the greenhouse and some variability in growth cycles. Our team can help with subs.

    Last Week's Shorts:

    • Baby Arugula | 2085 — Heavy rains left the crop wet and damaged, leading the supplier to prorate orders.
    • Roots Revival Mizuna | 5173 — limited availability from the grower and increased demand caused some shorts.
    • Pompom Mushrooms | 5158 — Slow growth resulted in some shorts. Back in stock now.
    • Frankie's Olive Oil | 6448 — After a brief border delay, product is back in stock.
    • Pea Shoot Sprouts Blend | 7547 — Supply has resumed after a temporary production and growth delay.

    Holiday Ordering

    ✔️Reminder! Do's & Don'ts 🚫

To keep things running smoothly with your Bondi deliveries over the next few weeks during our closures, here are a few simple ordering tips to keep in mind:

    • ✔️ DO note that we’ll be closed Dec 25, Dec 26, and Jan 1. All other days are business as usual!
    • 🚫 DON'T wait to the last minute to order. All routes will be open on Dec 24 & Dec 31, which means volume will be heavier and routes will be tighter, which may impact delivery timing on these days.
    • ✔️ DO make sure your orders are in by 10:00 PM on Dec 23 & Dec 30 — Dec 24 and Dec 31 are the final delivery days before our closures on Dec 25 & 26 and Jan 1.
    • 🚫  DON’T rely on secondary deliveries — we will not be able to accommodate same-day deliveries on the 24th or 31st if you miss the 10PM order deadline on the 23rd or 30th.
    • ✔️ DO plan 1–2 days earlier (Dec 22 or 23 & 29 or 30) if you have a time-sensitive event or service.
    • 🚫 DON’T leave specialty or event-critical items to the last minute if you can avoid it. The more notice we have, the better we can plan to make sure you have what you need.
