Weekly Market Report

Welcome to the Bondi weekly market report, your go-to for all the highs & lows of the week.

Hope everyone’s recovered from Saturday’s World Series heartbreak. It didn’t end the way we hoped, but damn, what a run — the Jays brought life back into the city (and our industry) in a way we haven’t seen in years.

With baseball wrapped and Halloween in the rearview, we’re shifting into that stretch before the holidays when menus get richer, brighter, and a little more celebratory.

So top up your espresso, prep your mise, and let’s dive in...

THE TL;DR VERSION

Market At A Glance:

  • 🔺Tight & elevated: Lettuces, broccoli, snow & snap peas, Brussels sprouts, and Chinese eggplant.
  • 🔻Easing: Zucchini, berries, and cauliflower.
  • ➡️ Transitioning: Local greenhouse peppers, eggplant, parsley, and kohlrabi moving to Mexican and U.S. product; Georgia crops winding down as Florida ramps up.
  • ✅ Peaking: Ontario apples, specialty citrus, root veg, squash, and hearty fall greens.

📈 What’s Up?: Local transitions and tight supply from Mexico and Central America are pushing prices higher across peppers, eggplant, snow peas, and and lettuces.

📉 What's Down?: Cauliflower, strawberries and zucchini are easing as supply improves and blueberries and blackberries are holding steady with improved weather and supply.

🍄New Arrivals: Fresh Burgundy truffles have arrived from a new supplier! These beauties are looking (and smelling) elite.

🍊 Specialty Citrus: Pink lemons! Meyer lemons! Green yuzu! Bergamot! Finger limes! Kumquats! Specialty citrus season has begun.

🟥 Red Flags: A few supply watch and shorts from last week to note. Full details below.

🖤 Pantry Picks of the Week: We've got truffles on the brain. From oil to gouda to chili crunch — the truffle takeover continues.

  • GAILAN (2515) - Local season is winding down, and pricing is expected to rise in the coming weeks as supply tightens.
  • KOHLRABI (2611) - Local season has finished, and we’ve transitioned to New Jersey supply.

  • BLUEBERRIES (2193) -Steady supplies and strong quality from Mexico and Peru are keeping pricing stable.
  • BLACKBERRIES (2191) - Supplies improving from Mexico and Baja, but quality still inconsistent — soft fruit and colour issues popping up.

Truffles on the brain? Weird, same here...

When you’re not shaving the real thing, these pantry staples still bring that rich, earthy magic to the plate:

  • Black Truffle Paste | Code 7139 — Earthy, intense, and endlessly versatile. Stir through risotto, whisk into sauces, or fold into butter for instant truffle depth.
  • Calabrian Truffle Crunch (Chili Crisp) | Code 11609 — Chili crisp, leveled up. Calabrian heat meets truffle umami. Spoon it on pasta, eggs, pizza... or eat straight from the jar. We don't judge.
  • Black Truffle Gouda | Code 6166 — Creamy, aromatic, and dangerously good. Melt it into mac, top a burger, or slice thick and call it dinner.
  • White Truffle Oil (Squeeze Bottle) | Code 6013 — Smooth, fragrant, and bold. Fries, pasta, mushrooms — a little drizzle goes a long way.
  • White Truffle Oil (Glass Bottles) | Code 5998 — All-natural white truffle extract meets premium Italian olive oil. In a fancy glass bottle.
  • Truffle Honey | Code 6000 — Sweet, floral, and umami-rich. Drizzle over cheese, fried chicken, or roasted nuts. Delish.
